Susan Krutis, Resident in Counseling

Susan is available for individual therapy, couples therapy, and family therapy via telehealth and in-person at Be Hive Wellness in Vienna, VA.

Susan is a Resident in Counseling with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a specialization in trauma, crisis, grief, and loss. She has a special interest in treating perinatal mood disorders, trauma, depression, and anxiety.

Before entering the counseling field, Susan worked for over 25 years as an occupational therapist and taught in graduate college. She earned a Doctor of Science (ScD) in Occupational Science, an interdisciplinary field that examines the meaning of everyday activities that people need and want to do. This background informs Susan's counseling perspective by deepening her understanding of how mental health challenges influence daily routines, relationships, and identity. She believes healing involves not only symptom relief but also helping people reconnect with what matters most to them in daily life.

Susan's primary counseling approaches are person-centered and trauma-informed. She is trained in EMDR and also draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Gestalt psychotherapy, depending on the unique needs of each client. Her therapeutic style is warm, accepting, and motivating.
