Our clinicians have at least a Master's degree in counseling or social work. Residents in Counseling & Supervises in Social Work have completed their coursework and are obtaining the necessary hours under supervision to become licensed by the state board. Our rates reflect the investment and level of training each clinicians has to date.
Initial intake sessions for individuals are 60 minutes ($225 for pre-licensed clinicians; $250 for licensed clinicians) and 80 minutes for couples ($275 for pre-licensed clinicians; $300 for licensed clinicians).
Follow-up sessions are generally 45-minutes for individuals and the rate is $195 with a Resident therapist and $220 with a Licensed therapist. Longer sessions are typically recommended for couples work (80 minutes, $275). EMDR intensives are 2-hours and $500. Couples intensives include a 3-hour workshop + 1 -hour follow up and are $850.
Prior to your first appointment, you'll be provided with a link to our portal where you can fill out the necessary new-client paperwork. Please be as detailed as possible with your responses, as this will help us to ensure you're matched up with a therapist who is a good fit and will help her get to know your history. If there is anything you're not comfortable sharing on the Intake form, no problem. You can bring it up in session as you are ready.
The frequency of sessions really depends on your needs, wishes, circumstances, and any mental health diagnoses that are being treated. Together, you and your therapist will come up with a treatment plan that may consist of regular meetings, or that may include a more "as-needed" approach.
We work with many individuals who enjoy having ongoing weekly or every-other-week appointments, as well as with others who prefer to schedule monthly check-in sessions or touch base as-needed.
You can discuss your preference and any concerns (schedule, finances, etc.) with your provider to create a plan that works for you. We want therapy to be a welcome and useful part of your life, not another burden or stressful item on your to-do list.
You will be charged at the time of service and there is no surprise billing. Click here to see a detailed list of session types and fees.
We are a small, boutique-like practice with out-of-network providers. Our focus is on client care and practicing in a manner that allows you to have an individualized experience with custom treatment plans and solutions to get you the support you need.
As such, we are not paneled by any insurance companies nor bound by their many (and ever-changing!) dictations. We do, however, encourage you to use your out-of-network benefits if applicable and have partnered with Mentaya, a service that streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions. If you qualify, you have the option to use Mentaya to file claims on your behalf. They handle all the insurance paperwork and charge a 5% fee.
You also have the option to file claims yourself. Upon request, we will provide you with receipts of service to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Statements will include dates of service, the service code, and a diagnostic code. If you have questions or concerns about diagnoses, please discuss with your provider in session.
To determine your out-of-network benefits, email support@bewell-wellness.com and include your first and last name, date of birth, insurance company, and member ID. We will get back to you with information regarding your out-of-network benefits and what you can expect to be reimbursed.
Alternatively, you can call the customer service / mental health number on the back of your insurance card. Ask what the reimbursement rate is for an out-of-network mental health therapist and for any information you need to know regarding how to submit statements for reimbursement.
Your insurance company may wish to look us up by NPI number, which is 1215621974, or by our tax ID, which is EIN 93-1631092. If they request billing codes, you can find a list of CPT codes per service type here.
If your insurance company requires procedure and diagnostic codes, please tell them:
Some alternatives that may be available to offset your out-of-pocket costs include Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Accounts (HSA). Please review your specific program for eligibility. Depending on your tax status, fees paid for mental health services may be tax deducible as an itemized medical expense.
Please note: We are unable to work with clients who wish to submit statements for reimbursement to Medicare or Medicaid. If you haave one of these insurance, please let us know prior to meeting so we can discuss options and next steps.
EMDR, short for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a modern therapy technique used in the treatment of a wide range of problems stemming from struggles with traumatic or disturbing events.
Using what's called bilateral stimulation -- rhymitic, left-right patterns delivered visually, tactically, or auditorily -- EMDR allows your entire brain to activate to process various events.
It has been clinically proven to accelerate the treatment of a variety of problems by tapping into a client’s memory system to strengthen positive memory networks while weakening negative or traumatic ones. It won't erase memories, but it will lower distress and lessen triggers.
In our practice, EMDR is frequently used to help individuals work through traumatic birth experiences.
We get it. Therapy is expensive and seems like a luxury not everyone can afford. We don't love the healthcare system in our country and wish therapy were more accessible to everyone.
That said, we also believe that investing in yourself is one of the best decisions you can make. We encourage you to view the decision to start therapy as a powerful choice in taking action to create the life you desire. We've worked in various settings over the years and have seen first hand that clients who choose to invest in therapy and value the process as worthwhile tend to experience better results.
We're happy to discuss any financial concerns you have and to help you find solutions to getting the support you need.
We run free postpartum support groups twice a month and also work with individuals eligible for grant funding through Postpartum Support Virginia's Shelane's fund.

Therapy is offered in-person (by some providers) at Be Hive Wellness, 8245 Boone Blvd, Suite 630 in Vienna, VA (near Tysons Corner) and virtually via a secure, HIPAA compliant platform within our portal. Let us know your preference for sessions when scheduling your first appointment.
All new clients will receive an appointment reminder email that contains a telehealth link. If you've arranged to meet in-person you can ignore the link.
Follow-up sessions can be scheduled with your provider or via the portal and you will have the option to indicate your session preference.
In instances where you are unable to make a scheduled in-person session (due to timing, illness, etc.) please communicate with your provider to switch to telehealth.
Please note, per current licensure regulations, we are only able to conduct therapy sessions with clients physically located within the state of Virginia durings sessions.
If you are located in another state or area of the world and are unable to travel to Virginia, let us know so that we can discuss your options.
Please let your provider know as soon as possible if you cannot make a scheduled session. Per our cancellation policy, we do require 24-hours notice to reschedule your session without penalty.
We know that life can be unpredictable and things come up last minute like sick kids, flat tires, and spontaneous work meetings. If you unexpectedly cannot make your session, please email your provider directly to determine a plan. We don't love having to charge for unheld sessions and would prefer to connect in some manner, for some portion of the session if possible.
If you'd planned to meet in person, you have the option to switch to a virtual session or a phone call. We know you don't want to spend 45 minutes in front of a video camera if you're in bed with a fever, but a 15-minute phone check in can do wonders to keep you on track with your therapy goals.
No matter how well-skilled and compassionate a therapist might be, if she reminds you of your ex-best friend, estranged sister, or crazy mother-in-law it could be difficult to feel safe.
If you start therapy with a therapist who doesn't feel like a good fit for any reason, please reach out to our Client Coordinator at support@bewell-wellness.com to explore other options.
